2016
The founding work
Davy Industries began with a supply-chain problem the United States has since declared strategic: the country does not control its supply of scandium and other critical minerals. The founding work developed patented technology to extract and beneficiate rare earths and critical minerals from industrial waste streams, turning what other industries discard into the feedstock of strategic material.
The hard conclusion
A market that was not ready
The technology worked. The market did not. The United States was not yet prepared to consume domestically produced strategic material at a price that justified the investment. Davy faced the choice every deep technology company eventually faces: wait for the market to develop, or build the demand yourself.
2022
The pivot downstream
Davy chose to manufacture its own demand. The company reorganized around a vertically modeled materials-to-market platform: develop the material advantage, convert it into proprietary formulations and engineered systems, and commercialize it through high-performance products in markets that warrant the performance and justify the price.
Proof in the market
Davy Powersports launches
Davy officially entered the powersports market with its first product release: extreme performance race wheels that refuse the trade every other wheel makes, three times the structural strength of leading competing aftermarket products in a wheel 15 to 17 percent lighter than leading forged 6061-T6 equivalents. The wheels were the opening move.
The IP spine
A blended portfolio, built to feed production
The patents are not a holding portfolio; they are the spine of production. Four granted U.S. utility patents, one strengthened by a 2024 reexamination, with pending continuations and two international families, protect how Davy turns raw input into engineered material. Competitors can buy alloys. They cannot buy this.
2026
The platform today
Today the model runs end to end: minerals in, engineered components out, with Powersports first to market and defense and industrial close behind. Each new market runs on the same material and the same proof.
What comes next
The apex class, market by market
Marine, aerospace, architecture: the platform reaches each on its own timeline, and only when the material record has earned the entry. The problem Davy set out to solve has not changed since 2016. Neither has the answer.
